Abstract

With variable temperature and viscous dissipation, this paper considers a classical problem of an MHD boundary layer flow over a rectangular plate in a uniform stream of fluid. By using similarity transformation, the governing nonlinear PDEs have been transformed into a set of ODEs. Due to the presence of viscous dissipation, conversion of mechanical energy to thermal energy results in changes in temperature and other properties in the fluid. The effects of Prandtl number, Eckert number and temperature index coefficient n are discussed and graphically presented. It is found that as the Eckert number increases, the temperature distribution also increases, while there exists an inverse variation with the Prandtl number.
